In Frame Vol. 8: The ‘Bell

In Frame Vol. 8: The 'Bell

One ‘bell.

One tool.

One forge.

You don’t always need a floor full of machines or racks of dumbbells.

Sometimes all you need is this: a hunk of cast iron that has stood the test of centuries. A weapon of simplicity. A companion of builders.

The kettlebell doesn’t lie. It doesn’t give you shortcuts. It doesn’t care how you feel. You either pick it up—or you don’t.

Swings, presses, squats, carries. One ‘bell can build your muscles, your heart, your lungs, your spirit.

The truth is this: The Musclebuilder will build with anything.

Weight in hand, discipline in heart, presence in every rep.

One ‘bell.

Infinite possibilities.

Swing it.

Sunday Sendoff #11: You’re a Work in Progress (Always and Forever)

Brickwall's Sunday Sendoff

There’s no done.

There’s no finished.

There’s no perfection.

Everything is in progress—no matter how advanced you get.

It’s never-ending. You can always get better. You must always get better.

Like a shark, you’ve gotta keep swimming. Always moving. Because stopping isn’t neutral—it’s sliding backwards. Time never stops, so neither can you.

You’ll never be “finished.” You’ll never be a final product. And that’s the beauty of it. Life isn’t a statue—it’s a forge. You’re being reshaped every day.

And yeah, progress isn’t a straight line. You’ll detour. You’ll circle back. Sometimes you’ll even fall behind. But as long as you’re moving forward more often than not, you’re winning.

This isn’t just about training. It’s every area of your life—work, relationships, mindset. If it matters, it can be built stronger.

What’s it gonna take?

Shifting your mindset.

Putting in the reps.

Undoing years of old thinking and bad habits. It’ll be hard as hell, and it won’t happen overnight.

But what’s the alternative? Staying the same? Or worse—rotting in place? Not an option.

So remember: You are the blueprint. You are the project. You are the construction site. As long as you’re breathing, the work ain’t over.

Keep moving.

Keep building.

An Odd Dream Featuring Hugh Jackman

So I’m in this dream, right? Random parking lot, nameless store. Could’ve been a Target. Probably was a Target. Target just has that dream energy.

Anyway—out of nowhere—Hugh Jackman is there. Wolverine himself. And he’s trying to sell me a book on building muscle.

Not give me the book. Not sign the book. Sell it.

Now, I’m guessing he wrote it. That’s the only way this checks out in Dream Logic Court. But still—this is Hugh Jackman. Dude’s rich, famous, and could sell a million copies by just flexing on Instagram. But nope. Here he is. In a Target parking lot. Hawking his gains manual like some kind of celebrity-turned-lot-vendor.

There’s another guy with us. His face is blurry—like my brain rendered him in “low detail mode.” Let’s call him No Detail Man.

We’re all standing behind this absolutely insane Jeep. Lifted, giant tires, custom paint job—straight out of a monster truck rally. Naturally, I assume it’s Hugh’s. The parking lot’s packed. And somehow, we’re posted up dead-center like this is a pop-up muscle summit.

Then, after some unremembered conversation (probably about protein), Hugh and I end up standing nose-to-nose. He looks me dead in the eyes and says:

“You’re like a mirror image of me!”

Then—this is the part that gets burned into my soul—he anoints me:

“Huge Jackedman.”

No Detail Man loses it. I lose it. Hugh loses it. We’re all laughing like old friends on the best day of our lives.

And then…I wake up.

No resolution.

No idea if I bought the book.

No confirmation if I was about to be cast in the next X-Men as Wolverine’s jacked cousin from the frozen north.

No gym bro pact with Hugh and No Detail Man.

Just…gone. Forever lost in the dream ether.

One thing’s for sure, though: dreams are weird, man.

Also—Hugh, if you’re reading this—my schedule’s pretty flexible. I can pencil in a blockbuster shoot or a chest day. Your call brother.

In Frame Vol. 7: Ancient Survivors

In Frame Vol. 7: Ancient Survivor

Before the pines.

Before the oaks.

Before the redwoods stretched their arms to the sky…these stood.

Horsetail—green spear of the earth. A living fossil, carrying the memory of a world long buried.

Dinosaurs fed and fell, ice swallowed the land, oceans retreated and surged—and still, these segmented sentinels kept their vigil.

They are not flashy.

They are not loud.

They are patient.

They are close to permanent.

In their silence is the truth: What endures is not always what conquers, but what bends, adapts, and refuses to vanish.

Brother, learn from them.

Grow your strength ring by ring.

Root yourself deep.

Weather the ages.

One day, when all else crumbles, may you too be counted among the survivors.

Drop That Drink, Brother: The Truth About Alcohol

Drop That Drink, Brother: The Truth About Alcohol and Musclebuilding

Brother, it’s time for some tough love.

That drink in your hand? It’s not harmless.

It’s not helping you unwind.

It’s not making you more social.

It’s killing your gains.

And if you’re not careful, it’s killing your edge—your drive, your discipline, your health, and your life.

For the Builder, it’s an enemy.

Alcohol Is a Drug—Stop Pretending It Isn’t

According to the World Health Organization:

“Alcohol is a toxic, psychoactive, and dependence-producing substance and has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer decades ago – this is the highest risk group, which also includes asbestos, radiation and tobacco. Alcohol causes at least seven types of cancer, including the most common cancer types, such as bowel cancer and female breast cancer. Ethanol (alcohol) causes cancer through biological mechanisms as the compound breaks down in the body, which means that any beverage containing alcohol, regardless of its price and quality, poses a risk of developing cancer.”
(WHO)

It might be legal. It might be everywhere. But that doesn’t make it good.

Not a single drop of alcohol is safe.

What’s More? It Tanks Testosterone & Destroys Sleep

Even a couple drinks drop testosterone—studies prove it (NIH).

To the Builder, to the Bodybuilder, testosterone is precious—we need every last bit.

It also shreds REM sleep—the stage where testosterone is produced and your body repairs (Sleep Foundation), further wrecking recovery.

Alcohol kills your physique.

It kills your edge.

It kills your vitality…

…the opposite of what building is all about.

If You Must, Know This: You’re Choosing Weakness

One drink a day max. That’s a lot less than you think. Red wine also might be “less bad” thanks to resveratrol (Mayo Clinic).

But don’t kid yourself—less bad is still bad.

Red wine is simply poison wrapped in antioxidants.

Brickwall’s tip: Take the bottle of wine, throw it in the trash. Grab a handful of grapes, eat them. All the antioxidants, none of the poison.

The Builder 86’s This Poison

Alcohol slows you down.

It weakens your body.

It chips away at your edge.

It destroys your health.

Booze is for the lost—for men trying to escape a life that needs escaping from.

The Builder isn’t lost.

He doesn’t run.

He doesn’t numb.

He faces trauma, pain, and regret head on—and he comes out sharper, harder, and more dangerous.

Brickwall Rule: Nothing that crushes your health like this gets a pass. Nothing.

Drop the drink.

Pick up weights.

Pick up discipline.

Pick up the life that doesn’t need to be numbed.

Sunday Sendoff #10: Get Out and Make Some Memories

Brickwall's Sunday Sendoff

As my daughter, my son, and I made our way up the side of the mountain, I couldn’t help but think how epic it was. I couldn’t help but think there’s nowhere else I’d rather be in the world. And yeah—I couldn’t help but think about how high up we were. 🤣

Kind of nuts? A little bit. But are we ever going to forget that experience?

Hell no. That story’s locked in forever. I’ll be telling it to my grandkids.

And that’s the point, brother. Get out and make some memories. Not just photos on your phone, but stories etched into your soul. These moments will outlive you. They’ll be part of your legacy.

One day, when you’re laying on that deathbed, you’ll look back. And hopefully, you’ll smile knowing you did it your way—stacking your life with memories so epic they’ll echo long after you’re gone.

So lace up, step out, and do something worth remembering.

See You In the Arena

This week is just about over. Next week is just about here. Let’s keep building.

Brick by brick.

You Don’t Care at All…You Couldn’t Care Less, Right?

Alright brother, let’s settle this once and for all.

If you don’t care about something—like, at all—which is it? “I could care less” or “I couldn’t care less”?

Let’s do the math, brother:

  • “I could care less” = You care somewhat, because there’s room for you to care less than you do right now. This means you’re admitting you care… maybe a little, maybe a lot. But you care.
  • “I couldn’t care less” = You’ve hit absolute zero caring. No room left. No lower setting. Your “care tank” is bone dry.

So when someone says “I could care less” while they’re trying to act all indifferent, what they’re really saying is, “Yeah, I care… but let me pretend I don’t.”

It’s linguistic self-sabotage, brother.

If you truly don’t give a single damn, it’s “I couldn’t care less.” Full stop.

Brickwall’s rule: If you don’t care one bit, say “I couldn’t care less. Because every time you say “I could care less” when you mean the opposite, a grammar nerd gets their wings…and then uses them to slap you.

In Frame Vol. 6: The Path Is Arduous, but Ours

Location? Doesn’t matter.

What matters is the path.

The long, winding path—riddled with storms, heavy with uncertainty.

The Musclebuilder doesn’t retreat. He leans forward.

One step.

One rep.

One mile.

One move.

The path is ours, brother.

Let’s ride.
